The Promontory, Chicago's newest restaurant and music venue, is located in the beautiful Hyde Park neighborhood.
The Promontory pays tribute to the legacy of Louis Armstrong, one of the greatest stars of The Harlem Renaissance, this January for a month of Saturdays with four thrilling jazz concerts.
In cooperation with the Court Theatre’s Blues for an Alabama Sky and The Harlem Renaissance Celebration, the Promontory is proud to present our 2nd Annual SATCHMO SATURDAYS. The series features four of the most dynamic contemporary jazz acts, each uniquely celebrating the legacy of music from the Harlem Renaissance.
In addition to the headliners, each performance will open with youth poetry, as Chicago students perform poetry of the Harlem Renaissance, as well as introduce us to their modern responses to the classics. Participating schools and programs include Kenwood Academy, Rebirth Poetry Ensemble, Oak Park River Forest High School, and Columbia College.
